Flying private has several obvious advantages, including its safety compared to flying commercial planes. For instance, private charter brokers speak directly with passengers and, therefore, gather more information about them that is typically required by an airline. Moreover, private charter brokers are usually adamant about safety checks and make sure that the operators are reputable and trustworthy by vetting them thoroughly. Top brokers often engage the services of third-party auditors to make sure their operators are adhering to certain standards. Frequent fliers also end up seeing the same crew each flight, allowing them to form a relationship that makes them feel secured about their flights.

The Florida Council of 100 is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1961. It works closely with policy makers and supports positions that improve the economic health and well-being of Florida’s citizens. Since its inception, the Florida Council of 100 has spearheaded initiatives such as health care cost containment studies, free enterprise programs, personal financial literacy, and right-to-work policies, among others. Right-to-work refers to employment law that prohibits unions from requiring membership as a condition of employment. Employment that requires union representation is often known as a union shop, a closed shop, or an agency shop. Although they prohibit mandated union representation, right-to-work policies do assert the right of an individual to join a union and pay union dues if they so choose. Right-to-work policies are often implemented at the state and local level under the authority of Section 14(b) of the Taft-Hartley Act. Based in Miami, Florida, Justin Lee Firestone is a pioneer in the US jet industry and a co-founder at Wheels Up, a private aviation company. Tasked with facilitating the company's growth through bold moves such as placing a $1.4 billion order, the largest ever in the general aviation industry, Justin Firestone also oversees Wheels Up’s philanthropic efforts.
Wheels Up’s Up the Way You Care program takes a unique and colorful approach to supporting various charities. Through the program, the aviation company paints select Beechcraft Air 350i aircraft colors that represent the causes it is supporting in order to raise awareness and funds for these charities’ missions. In February, the aircraft are painted red in support of American Heart Month. These planes fly across the country raising awareness on the American Heart Association’s (AHA’s) Life is Why We Give campaign, which promotes healthy living as well as SIMON’S Heart, an organization that educates people on the warning signs associated with cardiac problems in children. For every Wheels Up membership purchased in February, the company donates a portion of initiation fees to AHA’s Life is Why We Give and SIMON’S Heart. As the company bulks up its fleet, it continues to expand its philanthropic activity. For example, the company debuted a King Air 350i plane in 2016 with a striking teal appearance that takes to the skies during September in support of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. It also operates a pink King Air 340i plane in October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. |
